“Cathedrals of Consumption” at Spinello Projects

Cathedrals of Consumption, curated by Guillermo Leon Gomez, transformed the main gallery space at Spinello Projects into a quasi-home design showroom with works by Gabriele Beveridge, Andy Coolquitt, Kalup Linzy, Ad Minoliti, Bert Rodriguez, Amanda Ross-Ho, and Mika Rottenberg.

Coinciding with the Maison&Objet Americas international design fair, the exhibition
presents works that use or transform found domestic articles into useless, occasionally absurdist, and sharply ironic permutations, examining ideas of mass production, industrial design, consumerism and domestic ideology, and playfully and with a large dose of self-awareness addressing the commodification and branding of the artist, as well as mainstream methods of visual merchandising.
